The main conclusion of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 (UNCED) was the necessity of immediate undertaking any activities to protect biological diversity (biodiversity). That Conference resulted in establishing United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and Action Programme (Agenda 21), which are the basic documents for the development of any activities in the educational system. Biodiversity problems are included in the new educational basic curriculum, which has been introduced to scholar practice since 2009. The aim of this research was to determine (1) the degree of changes in purposes and contents of education in relation to the reform nearly carried out in educational programmes and (2) the degree of realization of the biodiversity topics included in the new programmes in education for the sustainable development. The results of these two analyses are presented in the paper.en
