The choice of one’s future job as well as education is a very important and difficult decision
to make. Every young person has to cope with this problem. At present, when the situation in
the world of work is commonly called complicated, with a high rate of unemployment, making
work conditions technically more advanced and generating the necessity of changing jobs, it
becomes crucial to know how to suit the reality. That is why career counselling is becoming
more and more important and popular. Also school has an important role to play: it should
support its pupils using activating methods as regards the choice of future education and job,
and planning the future professional career.
Educational and vocational orientation should be a long term educational activity and its aim
should be to help a pupil to develop in a broad way, to make it easier for a pupil to make
choice as regards his own professional future. The prolonging time of educating makes it
possible to influence a pupil for a longer time. Therefore, the role of educational and vocational
orientation is getting more important nowadays. On the lower level of education it has an
introductory role and consists in supporting pupil’s general development, and it gradually
changes on higher levels.
The following project shows the elements of vocational orientation in the opinion of both
pupils and teachers.
