The modern labour market is characterised by instability and unpredictability. In the face of
the changes taking place on the market, new forms of the market are appearing, which also
require more and more extensive competences of employees. The changing market reality
was the motive for trying to identify competences and professions that will be sought after
in the future labor market and to pay attention to adaptation of the education process to
the changes taking place. The analysis of the literature shows that there are discrepancies
in the labor market between the expectations of employers in relation to qualifications and
competences in relation to the hard and soft skills possessed by the university graduates.
Deficits of employees are also noticed, especially in the technical sectors, but this is a variable
phenomenon in time and space. The subject of the undertaken research was the analysis of
the labor market conditions of the Małopolska and Podkarpackie voivodships in the context
of the employment of graduates of technical faculties.
