The article presents theoretical facts of thermoelectric phenomena (i.e. Joule effect, Seebeck
effect, Thomson effect and Peltier effect). Lead-free Na1−xLixNbO3 ceramics (x = 0 – 0,06) were
synthesized by a conventional mixed-oxide technique. The microstructure study showed
a dense structure, in good agreement with that of 94–96% relative density determined by
Archimedes method. The results of thermoelectric studies using the Seebeck effect for the
Na1−xLixNbO3 solid solution (x = 0 – 0,06) were also presented in this paper. The experimental
measurements of Seebeck effect showed that pure NaNbO3 exhibits n-type of conductivity,
whereas Na1−xLixNbO3 solid solutions exhibit p-type of conductivity.
