| dc.description.abstract | Traversing one of Irish villages Hermann von Piickler-Muskau wrote down in his
journal that even Polish villages are not as wretched as the one which he saw. Similar
observations can be found in Johann Georg Kohls journal on Ireland. Moreover,
the British press underlined parallels between the situation of Poland and Ireland,
which were depicted as two unfortunate countries. The aim of this article is to compare
everyday life of Polish and Irish peasants and to show similarities and differences
which can be found in nineteenth-century publications on Poland and Ireland. | en |
