Rola ogrodów zoologicznych w ochronie różnorodności biologicznej

Abstract

Ogród zoologiczny to instytucja hodowli i aklimatyzacji dzikich zwierząt. Jego profil jest naukowy, a jego rola dla społeczeństwa edukacyjna i poznawcza. Ogrody zoologiczne przeszły wiele ważnych zmian na przestrzeni wieków, w tym zmiany przeznaczenia i funkcji. Czas również zmienić edukację społeczeństwa na temat różnorodności biologicznej i ukierunkować ją na bezpośrednie poznanie i obserwację przy użyciu zasobów ogrodów zoologicznych, ponieważ ogrody wspierają instytucje oświatowe w realizacji treści przyrodniczych. Tak dużej różnorodności gatunków nie można znaleźć nigdzie indziej. Nowoczesny ogród zoologiczny pełni wiele funkcji m.in.: hodowli zwierząt, wzbogacania wiedzy naukowej i również rolę edukacyjną.

Zoological garden is an institution of breeding and acclimatisation of wild animals. Its profile is scientific, and its role for the society is educational and cognitive. Zoological gardens have undergone a lot of important changes throughout the centuries, including the change of their destination and functions. It’s also time to change education of the society about biological diversity and orient it on direct cognition and observation with the use of zoological gardens’ resources, as the gardens are supporting institutions in realisation of natural contents. Such vast diversity of species cannot be found anywhere else. A modern zoological garden has a lot of functions: breeding, increasing scientific knowledge about animals, and performing educational tasks.
