The paper focuses on comparative studies conducted among students in
Poland and Belarus. It describes different aspects of religiosity such as
students’ religious identity, religious practices connected with frequency
of prayer, the observance of Lent, reading religious literature, as well as
the role of socialization. The hypothesis to verify, based on acknowledgement
of cultural similarity, staying in the same zone of political
influence and spatial proximity for tens of years, implies that faith, religious
practices and religious socialization – acquired mostly in families
– are similar among Polish and Belarusian students. This hypothesis was
not confirmed by our studies. Religiosity of Polish and Belarusian students
is different.
