dc.description.abstractMany possibilities of realising educational purposes are inherent in the revised program, of geography their eliciting and skilful application depending on the teacher's initiative. An attempt of proving the point on concrete examples is made in the present article. The main subject of the entire course of geography all along the eight years of primary school is regional geography with some indispensable general knowledge of general geography principles as map reading, the shape and movement of the Globe and the like. A characteristic feature of the new program is also to create conditions affording the application of geographical methods of work. An important point is made of making various observations, hence, an important role is attributed to exercises and excursions; country exploration and regional problems being especially stressed. The teacher has the freedom and duty to apply different methods of teaching, according to the specifics of the themes, of conditions and means. The dydactic method of studying problems in teams is especially noteworthy. A report on three concrete methodical lessons int the V th form with their analysis is quoted in the article. The merits of team studying of problems being in principle indisputable however cannot be of everyday use in any class and in connection with any questions. The choice and means of methods ought to be subordinated to the main purpose which is an earnest imparting to the pupils of fundamental knowlege of geography.en_EN
