Próba oceny związku egzaminów wstępnych ze studiami geograficznymi

Abstract

The article contains a number of deliberations on the connection between the outcome of entrance examinations - with an analysis of results obtained in secondary school - and the progress of further special studies. Six school years (1952-3; 1958-9, 1960-61, 1961-2,1962 to 1963 and 1963-4) are taken into consideration. The following points are examined. 1. Relation between the estimation of the maturity certificate and the result of entrance examinations. 2. Relation between the school report on geography and the result of the entrance examination. 3. Relation between the result of the entrance examination and the general progress of the first уеar of higher studies. 4. Relation between the average estimation of the maturity certificate and that of the first year of higher studies. The following points are graphically presented in two diagrams. 1. The secondary school results, entrance examination results, and the results of the 1st and the 2nd years of higher studies for the year 1961-2. 2. Results obtained in secondary school and the average estimations in the course of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th years of higher studies for all mentioned years. The analysis shows that the estimation of a student’s general aptness is the same as that of the school graduate; but the knowledge of geography of an applicant for higher studies is insufficient.
