Niektóre aspekty urbanizacji obrzeży miast i ośrodków przemysłowych

Abstract

The article analyses the processes of change leading up to the urbanization of the rural environment of town and industrial centers. Upon examining the data relating to the employment structure and the social-professional structure of the inhabitants, their educational status and their professional qualifications as well as the extent of their association with the towns, different phases of non-uniform character within the processes of urbanization have been distinguished in the periphery of several towns of Southern Polaind: Bielsko, Krosno, Łańcut, Oświęcim, Zawiercie and Żywiec. The author has been able to prove moreover, that the post-war dynamics of professional activity among the rural population outside agriculture is among the most vital component indices of the industrialization and urbanization processes. The intensification of the process of transformation of the professional structure of the rural population, i. e. of their professional urbanization, depends on the quantity and quality of non-agricultural working-places as well as on the stability of their connections with the rural environment.
