In the paper the author has tried to analyse the growth of the population in Venezuela during the last forty-five
years. He has examined the causes which had contributed to the tremendous increase of population in that country as
well as to the marked differences in the density of that population within it. Thus, he has discussed the increase
in Venezuela s population against the background of the increase in world population, sanitary actions, internal
migrations, the inhabitants age structure, and the density of population. Three regions of highly differing density
of population have been distinguished. The author draws several conclusions, showing, among others, that the rapid
increase of population and the contrasts in its density, growing more and more acute every year, result above all
from the former colonial dependence and the unequal economic growth of the country.
