The paper contains a short discussion of the role of intonation in the teaching of everyday language. Next the
author deals with the characteristics of the intonation of Russian dialogue, taking into consideration all the
known types of the intonational constructions.
This theoretical introduction has a bearing on the problem of teaching Russian intonation to non-Russian speakers.
As the paper deals with the Polish-school reality, some (the most important) differences between Polish and Russian
intonation are particularly brought to light. The author suggests that these differences should be taken into
consideration in the organization of the didactic process in the Polish elementary school.
