The subject matter of the article was topographic names in an old village of Porąbka, limanowski powiat, whose beginnings reach the 12th century. These names constitute 73,3% of the micro-toponyms recorded by the author (cultural names of 15,6% and possessive names of 11.1 % are less frequent). The collection of Porąbka topographic names, including the topographic names acting as proper names depending on their motivation, comprises two categories: 1. Names depicting relief: landforms, size, type of soil and its use, location, e.g. Bania ‘deep, steep pit’, Błoto ‘very muddy stretch of road’. 2. Names referring to vegetation such as: Malinie ‘stream where raspberries grow’, Jałowce ‘field once overgrown with juniper’. Formally, the discussed material includes single names (equal with appellatives, 2. different from appellatives and 3. prepositional names - in big numbers) and rare compound names, such as Wysoka Górka, Mały Kopiec, and the like. In conclusion, it should be said that collecting and analysing micro-toponymy is very important for the origin, culture and dialect of a given region, which is our little homeland.en_EN
