The corpus of data for the present study is composed of surnames of residents of the Krościenko on Dunajec parish during the years 1644-1777. The analysis proves the fact that secondary surnames, which come directly or indirectly from appellatives, are in majority among antroponyms, and a high productivity of suffixes with -k- element is in agreement with general Polish surname-formation tendencies. The vivid dialect of the region had a great impact on the formation of a large number of phonetic variants of surnames and it was responsible for the transfer of dialectal phenomena to official texts.en_EN
