| dc.description.abstract | Some interesting names of vessels analyzed in detail in the paper belong to two groups: names of vessels used in
brewing (achtel, półachtelek, kadź, kadka, przykadek, lij, szafrat) and names of vessels used in distilling of
alcohol (bareta, nalewka, rurnica, zaciernica).
Lexical material was excerpted from ‘Księga sądowa Uszwi dla wsi Zawady’/’The Judicial Book of Uszew for the
Village Zawady’ that is a relic representing regional Polish language met in the district of Brzesko in 17th—18th
centuries.
The names are not homogenous in respect of formative structure. They are mainly based on the stem -kad-: stem
derivations -kadź, suffix derivations kad - ka, prefix and suffix derivations przy - kad - ek. Suffix derivations
are also: nalew - ka, rurn - ica, zadern - ica. Indivisible words are kadź and lij. Achtel is a word of foreign
(German) origin while bareta and szafrat are both words of vague origins and structures. From among discussed words
kadź, kadka and lej are used till the present day. The names achtel, półachtelek, bareta, nalewka (as ‘a name of a
vessel’), rurnica, przykadek, szafrat and zaciernica fell into disuse. | en_EN |
