Abstract

The article tries to show the formative process of proper nouns in the former deanery of Wadowice using examples of surnames formed from the names of handicraftsmen. Collected anthroponymic material includes 62 surnames (together basic forms, without suffixes and derivations). The surnames were formed in the course of onymization or derivation. There are also anthroponyms in case of which one cannot state univocally if a formative of a given surname is word-formative (and if so, it functions in the appellative ground) or name-formative that is fulfilling its function in anthroponimic ground.
