The paper presents an image of a woman in T. Różewicz’s poetry. The reconstruction of woman’s textual image is based on the idea of the great chain of beings borrowed from T.P. Krzeszowski. This hierarchically ordered model reflecting human perception of reality, of the importance and levels of beings’ evolution not necessarily refers to relations between particular beings with the poet, to places he fixed for them. Such a situation is reflected in examples of women who were treated badly during the war as well as examples for which the background is modem popular culture. The effect of the disorder is gained by the poet among others by means of comparing the fair sex with animals (animalizations) - then values from the animal level are spread to the level of human, spiritual values - or he searches for comparisons among inorganic elements. These exertions are accompanied by irony. It seems that modem morality is responsible for that incorrect state of unsettling the general category ‘humans’. And for evil that is inherent in ‘bad women’ are burdened not only the women themselves but also society - the accomplice of the other man’s decline.en_EN
