The goal of this research is to critically asses the know-how aspect of the local leadership.
The academic literature dedicated to the topic frequently concentrates on the leader figure
itself – metaphorically understood as a figure that excels the others or a figure that is
distinguished within the social structure. The case study goes across this frequently adapted
understanding of the phenomenon – the author argues that contemporary leadership is
possible in separation from the team/social group. While conducting socially oriented
projects (cultural, social policy, integrative, environmental ones), the leader combines and
uses the recourses that are offered by the public and business sector and media. Therefore,
contemporary leader should be perceived as “orchestra conductor”. The case study is
empirically based on the qualitative paradigm with the IDI as a data collection technique.
