In the paper names of domestic animals (homed cattle and horses) that occur in a relic of the southern part of
Little Poland, i.e. in District Books of the Kasina Wielka Village (of the 16th—18th centuries) were presented.
The names were discussed according to the following groups:
I. General (species) names.
II. Detailed names:
1. names of females — both adult and young;
2. names of males - both adult and young;
3. names of young (of breeds).
Some of the discussed names are used up to present days — these are general names like krowa a cow, wół an ox,
cielę a calf, koń a horse and others, some like nazimię/an animal less than one year old, jałowię/a heifer,
latocha and others went out of use, and some few like cieluszka/a cow with a calf are used in a dialect up to
modern times.
