The author’s own experience in the field of the application of the so-called method of practice in creative
writing is based on the technique of free texts known from C. Freinet’s work. She gives the theoretical reasons
for the necessity to introduce into elementary schools a kind of a great play. When children play creative writers
it stimulates their imagination and teaches them to make coherent constructions of literary fiction. In the
author’s opinion, the creation of science-fiction stories followed by their collective critical analysis is
especially valuable for such didactic actions. The teacher as an animator of such actions takes part in the play
and at the same time he m ay put some questions to the young creators concerning the meaning of their texts; thus
he is able to point out the sense of the latter and help the children to form an investigative attitude towards
the technique of narrative, the logical structure of the story etc. In this w ay the pupils m ay be intensively
trained in the domain of the technique of the creation of literary texts. At the same time this enlarge their
experience as to the understanding, feeling and evaluating of creative work.
The method in question is thus of double importance: it helps the training of linguistic proficiency and fluency
as w ell as the ease of utterance and it enables a teacher to teach the pupils some elementary notions of literary
studies and to prepare them for critical understanding and interpretation of creative work.
