Street gambling, mathematization and the mathematical expectation

Abstract

Concepts, theorems and the methodology of probability calculus were born - no doubt for that - in gambling saloons. In the gambling land we find traces of history and culture, but also of sciences. The present paper deals with some mathematical activities inspired by gambling.
