The article deals with the contemporary political parties of the radical Right in western Europe. The author,
reacting to frequently done identification of those parties with the nazi movement, emphasizes the differences
between nazi parties of the 30-ties and the contemporary radical Right: The analysis encompasses not only the
differences in the ideological profile but also the issue of the divergent political and social causes which
were-responsible for the shape of the parties of the two trends. Beside general considerations, the article
presents specific examples of radical right groups, namely the Austrian Freedom Party and the French National
Front.
