The article situates Juliusz Słowacki’s drama between the father, Euzebiusz’s drama, which is a thematic inspiration for Mindowe, and the first part of historic trilogy entitled Mindaugas (1964) by Justinas Marcinkevičius. For the Polish recipient, the remarks about the popularity of J. Słowacki’s drama in Lithuania and also among Lithuanian immigrants to the United States of America, already since 1880-ties until the present day, are very precious. Słowacki with his drama could have also inspired the new image of the contemporary Lithuanian ruler and his epoch, which was presented in the poetic drama by Marcinkevičius, and which critics judge as having a great role in the development of the Lithuanian national awareness.
