The article discusses valuable contents of a romantic diary from the period 1844-1857. Poems and autographs of many outstanding figures of the literary and artistic circles of Vilnius, which were included in it, document the contemporary culture, references to historic past, custom, and intellectual life and spiritual mentality of the people of those times. Their reliability, in spite of the adapted mode of a panegyric, is confirmed by signatures of such persons as Mikołaj Malinowski, Antoni E. Odyniec, Władysław Syrokomla, Tomasz Zan, or Józef Ignacy Kraszewski and Antoni Kątski. E. Tyszkiewicz’s preserved diary commemorated a small part of the romantic, cultural and social landscape of Vilnius.en_EN
