The paper describes an attempt to find relations between academic achievements, adaptation to studying and temperamental dimensions in the sample of 97 students of the 1st grade of Educational High School in Cracow. Selected temperamental variables were measured with Strelau's Temperament Inventory, MPI, P scale of PEN Inventory and Nebylitsyn's procedure ("time reaction curve"). Significant connections were found between some temperamental traits and adaptation to studying, but only in specific groups of students i.e. in the lower academic achievements group (neuroticism, and in the group with disproportion between adaptation and achievements (extraversion, mobility of nervous processes and strength of the process of excitation). The level of adaptation was depended from psychoticism, but this last dimension was not correlated with temperamental variables.en_EN
