The paper contains some extracts from the unpublished typescript of Adam Dziurzyński "Family Life of Animals",
selected and elaborated by Barbara Pieronek. The extracts concern the aspects of taking care of the young
revealed in the manner of laying eggs by females. Some females insert their eggs into plant tissues (Calopteryx
virgo, Lestes sp., Dytiscus marginalie, Ranatra linearis, Nepa cinerea, Antispila stachjanella, Ipa typographus),
or enclose them into cocoons (Hydrophylidae, Rotatoria, Glossiphonidae, Argiope sp.). Some other females look
after their young after their hatching. (Daphnia sp., crayfish, Asellus aquaticus, Gammarus sp., Forficula
auricularis).
With regard to solitary bees (Apoidea) the nesting and preparing of food were described in details. This refers
to: Osmia papaveris, Anthidium strigatum, Anthophora parietina, Osmia rufa and Halictus sexcinctus.
The paper contains 12 illustrations, a part of which were taken by A. Dziurzyński from nature.
