The article presents the circumstances of formation, the structure, and the activity of the Rzeszów District of National Armed Forces (NSZ) in 1942-1944. In comparison with the previous publications by this author concerning these problems, the article is a supplemented and revised study of the problem. The full 20-page long account by captain/major Józef Baran, pseudonyms „Modliński, „Lucjan”- commander of the Rzeszów District of NSZ from April until July 1943 - of his conspiring activity, found by the author in the archives of the branch of the Institute of National Remembrance in Rzeszów. Among other things, it confirmed the author’s previous hypothesis about joining the structure of NSZ with the National Military Organisation in the Rzeszów Region in mid 1943, which was the main reason of the dissolution of the District by the Command of NSZ in January 1944, and transferring its local agencies to Cracow and Lvov Regions. The author has also presented the history of NSZ in the region of Rzeszów after the Red Army entered that territory in the summer of 1944. The activity of NSZ was limited then exclusively to the territory of Mielec county and it went on until 1946/1947, when the local structures of that organisation (surely subordinated already to the Command of the Rzeszów District of the National Military Union) were destroyed by UB (Security Service). The article is supplemented by biograms of a dozen or more soldiers of NSZ placed in the footnotes.
