dc.description.abstract | Piotr Jargusz, a graduate of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, currently, a professor at the Art Institute of the
Cracow Pedagogical University, in his individual exhibitions, contains the idea of a painter on the road, a
contemplative painter. The recent series of works (including the ongoing project “Home”) have one problem in common
- identity. The paintings and drawings are the artist’s reaction to the pervading existential dilemmas and
questions about the* private spiritual sphere, a form of naming and providing a contour for important and
unimportant thoughts and events. He concretizes ideas of art in them, as methods of studying the world, creating a
situation in which the painter is enabled to look into the realms escaping cognition. They are also a reflection
concerning the artist’s important journeys.
The Art of Remembrance is a text in which the author writes about the passion, the experience of meeting another
human being, another world. He also reflects on the old culture of remembrance and the new culture of oblivion,
with its Polish variety that is known to him. He is fascinated by the quest for the image, the genealogy of
thought, and the mystery of relocation - returning home.
The text is devoted to great artists-teachers whom the author was privileged to meet. | en_EN |
