The intention of the author of the paper is to study what choices were made by the publisher, in relation to the
journey-describing texts, and to present what linguistic picture of journey emerged from the “amended texts”. The
author analyses the manifestations of the motif of way and journey in the works by J.I. Kraszewski, and shows how
the author re-edited the text of Memories of Wolyn, Polesie, and Lithuania in the work published under the same
title twenty years later. That example shows particularly clearly the evolution of the decision of the editor made
on his own text. He also asks a question about the extent to which we can consider journalism a romantic writer’s
report, and he deliberates its genre markers in the 19th century.
