Podróż w poszukiwaniu „środka świata” w twórczości poetów z kręgu Tylicza

Abstract

In this article, I discuss the subject of space in the works of the authors of the Tylicz circle, i.e. the ones belonging to the group of Jerzy Gizela, Wiesław Kolarz, Andrzej Krzysztof Torbus, Andrzej Warzecha, Adam Ziemianin and Józef Baran who sympathized with them. I particularly emphasize the peregrination of the lyrical subject in search of its centre in the world. The journey begins in the realm of the native town or village. A great role is played here by the creation of the “small fatherland” and home as “the centre of the world” (according to Mircea Eliade’s concept). The lyrical subject, longing to leave its cradle, departs from its primary centre and tries to establish it in a new city space which is hostile at first. Domesticating the unknown area, it starts a new home there. The stigma of the native homeland and the values derived from it, turns out to be so strong that it cannot live separately from its cradle. As time goes by, it returns there more and more often, because it continues to belong to its fatherland.
