Utopia undergoes constant evolution, and when we consider the work by leading utopian philosophers we can draw certain generalisations within the genre, and we can determine the main objective which is self-knowledge in utopian thinking. Utopia, paraphrasing Hegel’s words, goes through several stages determined by its own character in order to reach knowledge about what it is in itself through versatile experience of itself. Only then, purified, it can attain the level of spirit.en_EN
