Abstract

This paper is concerned with the hopes and fears of the Estonian society related to its membership in the EU. The article illustrates the opinions of Estonians regarding integration into the EU. It describes relationships between Estonia and the EU from 1991 to 2004, the level of knowledge about the EU amongst the Estonians and it outlines Estonia’s eurosceptics movement. It also shows the problems which Estonia encountered on its road to the EU.
