Metoda badań współczesnych procesów geomorfologicznych w otoczeniu zbiornika retencyjnego na Rabie w Dobczycach

Abstract

The Physical Geography Unit of Geography Department of WSP in Cracow started researches in the surroundings of the retentional reservoir on the Raba at Dobczyce in 1984. The dam was finished in 1986, it crossed the Raba on the 80th km of the river. The area of the Raba catchment basin till the dam is 768 sq what makes 50,3% of the whole catchment area. The main function of the reservoir is to supply Cracow and other places on the way with drinking water. To present the dynamics of present coastal processes from the very beginning the researches had been started before the reservoir was filled with water. First, geomorphological mapping was undertaken and in the result the map of relief was prepared. Then, other supplementary researches on geology, climatology, hydrology were carried out. Taking into account geology and geomorphology 8 parts of slopes were chosen and for each of them were prepared: - profiles with the help of geodetic instruments, - geological cross-sections, - geomorphological blockdiagrams where type of covers was marked. Systematic observations and measurements were carried out on chosen localities. In 1988 the reservoir was completely emptied and it was possible to examine areas which had been under water. Other papers in that publication present researches on geology, relief, climatic and hydrologic conditions and on influence of anthropopression on hydrology below the reservoir.
