South-East Poland is the area where the migrational loss in villages is the smallest in Poland. Villages with
decreasing population are not so common as in other regions. Decreasing intensity of migrants from villages to
cities is particularly noticeable in Kraków, Nowy Sącz and Tarnów Voivodeships. In Rzeszów, Krosno and Tarnobrzeg
Voivodeships migrational increase in cities was greater during last 10 years than in highly urbanized areas.
The area of South-East Poland is the area with great stage of resident population. Greater mobility takes place in
cities than in villages but there is great spatial diversity. The most resident is population in Nowy Sącz region,
the most mobile are inhabitants of Rzeszów region. The villages in the Bieszczady and in the Beskid Niski are
characterized by the greatest share of immigratory population. There is a great complexity of factors and economic,
social and environmental conditions which in different degree influence the mobility and residence of inhabitants
from particular settlement units.
