The paper was based on data concerning mean yearly temperatures of air from the years 1948 - 1990. The data were
obtained from the meteorological stations located in the Tatra, Niżne Tatra and the Karkonosze Mts. Courses of
temperatures and their trends were analyzed. Regression equation was used for presenting the trends.
Among to 10 taken into account meteorological stations at different heights from 648 m a.s.l. to 2 635 m a.s.l.,
during the studied period, none of them show any important changes of air temperatures. Even the stations which are
situated in cities, like in Zakopane (857 m a.s.l.) and Poprad (703 m a.s.l.) which are in vales and which were
expanded in their areas during the last 40 years, did not show any important increase of air temperatures.
Essential changes of air temperatures were observed neither on mountain tops nor in valleys.
It can be stated that during the studied period and on the examined area in the layer of air between 600 and 2 600
m no green-house effect was observed which could be noticed if exists, during researches with the help of the used
method.
