The paper presents a role of present geomorphological processes in degradation of the „Besko” reservoir banks
during 15 years of its exploitation. According to geological criterion classification of slopes (Fig. 1, 2) was
prepared which was needed for distinguishing the representative parts on which field researches were carried out
(Fig. 3, 4). Character and intensity of present geomorphological processes influences unequal degradation of the
coast line. Processes of abrasion cause fallouts (Fig. 5) and sliding of weathered masses in the coastal zone (Fig.
6). In particular parts these processes are bound together and it often happens that one process causes the other
but there are also parts with one process predominance.
Depending on dynamics of processes in the coastal zone the following types of banks were distinguished:
abrasional-fallout (Fig. 6), abrasional-landslide (Fig. 7, 8), abrasional-creeping (Fig. 9), accumulative and
stable.
Character and course of present geomorphological processes in the coastal zone of the „Besko” reservoir is greatly
influenced by geological structure, mainly the resistance of rocks which build coast and relations between coast
and dip of layers and general direction of the coast line. Coastal zone of the reservoir is in the young stage as
there has not been created wide abrasional platfonn and abrasion connected with changed water level in the
reservoir led to abrasional terraces creation which are step-like situated.
