Abstract

The author of this article presents a certain aspect of the female sphere, the way it can be understood and perceived by a child. She is aware that some of the problems tackled here, connected with the motifs, attitudes and activities of the characters, have another, deeply hidden meaning related to the contexts of anthropology, literary studies and psychology, to which she refers. The study is based on the folk tales by the Brothers Grimm, such as Cinderella, Mother Hulda, The Seven Ravens, The Twelve Brothers, Clever Else, The Six Swans, The Girl Without Hands, and The Red Shoes, in which the figure of the main character is discussed. The author strives to depict the type of the main character of folk tales, which is characterized by the features of a ‘good girl’, basing on the psychoanalytic theories of B. Bettelheim, K.G. Jung, P. Péju, C.P. Estés, and reaching to contexts from the areas of anthropology, pedagogy and literary studies.
