Metaforyka oniryczna w liryce Młodej Polski

Abstract

Praca Metaforyka oniryczna w liryce Młodej Polski stanowi ujęcie typologiczne o charakterze teoretycznoliterackim. Przedmiotem badań są tu literackie konstrukcje metaforyczne związane znaczeniowo ze snem, a więc zawierające wyrazy dotyczące "spania" lub "śnienia" (w tym również artystyczne neologizmy). Źródłem ekscerpcji przykładów jest liryka młodopolska (ponad dwa tysiące tekstów), utwory reprezentatywnych dla epoki poetów. Przyjęta w pracy synkretyczna metodologia opiera się na założeniach współczesnej hermeneutyki (w kwestii ogólnego rozumienia metafory i jej odbioru), sposobach wyróżniania i opisywania metafor pojęciowych stosowanych w lingwistyce kognitywnej oraz współczesnej strukturyzacji i typologii polskich metafor, sporządzonej przez P. Wróblewskiego (Struktura, typologia i frekwencja polskich metafor, Białystok 1998).

W rozprawie przedstawiono m.in. zagadnienia dotyczące relacji metafory i modelu jako struktur znaczeniowych i logicznych, stan badań nad językiem Młodej Polski i metaforyką tego okresu, a także historię myśli ludzkiej o problemie snu ze szczególnym zaakcentowaniem nowych teorii snu i marzeń sennych, które objaśniają sposoby transponowania zjawisk sennych na literackie. Jednak centralnym zabiegiem pozostaje wyróżnienie ośmiu podstawowych modeli metafor onirycznych. W tłumaczeniu znaczenia metaforycznego i widzeniu składników połączenia metaforycznego jako struktury pojęciowej zachowano układ: znaczenie domeny źródłowej (modyfikator) nakładane na znaczenie domeny docelowej (temat). W obrębie "snu-spania" funkcjonują modele: (1) SUBSTANCJA, (2) SEN TO ISTOTA, (3)

ŻYCIE TO SEN, (4) ŚMIERĆ TO SEN. W ramach "snu-śnienia" wyszczególniono dwa dychotomiczne podziały. Podstawą wyodrębnienia pierwszego jest aspekt ontologiczny: (5) SEN TO PROJEKCJA FILMOWA i (6) SEN TO INNA RZECZYWISTOŚĆ, drugiego - aspekt temporalny: (7) SEN TO MARZENIE, (8) SEN TO WSPOMNIENIE. Dodatkowo zostały opisane konstrukcje nie mieszczące się w wyróżnionych modelach, np. sen jako opowieść. Wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz pozwalają stwierdzić nie tyle dostrzeżoną już obecność pierwiastków onirycznych w liryce (literaturze) Młodej Polski, ile pokazać jej istotę w konkretnym wymiarze językowym, strukturze i funkcjonowaniu modeli metaforycznych i składających się na nie faktycznych metafor poetyckich.

The dissertation Oneiric Metaphorics In the Lirics of Młoda Polska (Young Poles) is a typological approach within the theory of literature. The subject of study are literary metaphorical structures semantically related to sleep and as such containing words referring to "sleeping" or "dreaming" (including artistic neologisms). The sources are over two thousand works of lirics of Młoda Polska written by poets representative of those writing in the literary epoch. The syncretic methodology applied in the studies is based upon the foundations of the present hermeneutics (in the matter of general comprehension and reception of metaphor) as well as, used in cognitive linguistics, ways of distinguishing and describing notional metaphor and present structuring and typology of Polish metaphor elaborated by P.Wróblewski (Struktura, typologia i frekwencja polskich metafor /Structure, Typology, and Frequency of Polish Metaphors/, Białystok 1998).

The dissertation deals among other things with problems concerning relations between metaphor and model as semantic and logical structures, the state of research on the language of Młoda Polska and metaphorics of the epoch and besides the history of human thought on the problem of sleep, especially new theories of sleeping and dreaming that try to explain ways of transferring sleep phenomena to literary ones. Yet the main elaboration is distinguishing eight basic models of oneiric metaphors. In explaining metaphorical meaning and understanding components of metaphorical combination as a notional structure the following scheme was used: the meaning of initial domain (a modifier) put on the meaning of destination domain (a subject). Within "sleeping" the following models are used: (1) SLEEP IS SUBSTANCE, (2) SLEEP IS BEING, (3) LIFE IS SLEEP, (4) DEATH IS SLEEP.

Within "dreaming" two dichotomic partitions were specified. The former one is based upon an ontological aspect: (5) SLEEP IS FILM PROJECTION and (6) SLEEP IS DIFFERENT REALITY, the latter takes into account a temporal aspect: (7) SLEEP IS DREAM, (8) SLEEP IS MEMORY. Some structures, that do not fit to any of the models mentioned above (e.g. SLEEP IS STORY), were also described. The results of the executed analyses enable not exactly to find previously detected oneiric elements in lirics (literature) of Młoda Polska but to show their essence present in definite language applications, structures and metaphorical models as well as real poetic metaphors that the structures consist of.
