Quite a lot changes have happened to the journal I edit since 2007. External
conditions out of the journal control led to replacing the word Academiae in the
title of the series by the word Universitatis.
Going online, granting open access and imposing reasonable standards on accepted
papers have led to considerable rise in the position of the journal in the
rankings of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Currently, each
publication in AUPC SM is awarded with 8 points. To put it into perspective, it
suffices to mention that publications in the Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Mathematics, a journal with a much longer history and strong reputation
bring 9 points each.
In 2013 the editorial team was joined by two foreign colleagues Alex Küronya
and Márton Elekes. This has led to further improvements in the editorial process.
In particular, the authors can expect even faster referee reports and prompt acceptance
decisions. Further extensions of the editorial board are planned in the
next months. This is almost inevitable in the view of the increasing number of
interesting manuscripts submitted to the journal.
Finally, there is an ongoing interesting development in the publishing policy.
Starting 2014 AUPC SM is published in cooperation with de Gruyter publisher.
We hope this will lead to increase visibility and impact of the journal in the next
future.
It is a pleasure to thank all our authors for considering AUPC SM as the venue
for their publications. It is also a pleasure to thank all referees for the excellent
service they provide to the journal and mathematical community at large.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Magdalena Piszczek and Paweł
Solarz for the great job they do, taking daily care of the technical issues and
coordinating works of the editorial board.
