It is a fact generally acknowledged on the basis of research that the pace of growing up and
maturation are in great measure inherited characteristics. The development of efficiency is
strictly connected with the development of physiological bodily growth, especially at the age
of puberty. The degree to which the place of dwelling is urbanized, education and parents’
professional position foster larger height of their body. Environmental factors of rural and
urban children’s development were clearly changed in the final decade of the 20th century.
A determining research aim was answering the basic question – if today, in the age of
erasing social differences, the size of settling environment has a huge influence on somatic
development and motricity in female lower high school students.
The results show that generally girls from cities were more motorial because they had higher
results in the majority of carrying out tests. However, girls from the country were better only
in two tests as the long standing jump and rising from a lying position.
The girls from cities turned out as fitter in comparison with their peers from the country. It
seems that the gathered results which concern differences in the level of motoric development
can bear evidence of favourable changes which took place in the 21st century in the
development of children’s motricity in different environments with relation to urbanization.
The physical fitness teenage girls who live in the country or a city are shaped at a similar level,
which probably results from similar standards of living in our times.
In connection to the changes of the civilization we can observe the disappearance of the
differences in physical activity of teenagers living in various environments.
