The Family should be an asylum of safety for all of its members, primarily for children.
However, not all families cater for these significant need. This study intends to reveal, with
the use of a case study – the memories of a young woman, whose childhood and adolescence
periods were full of adaptation difficulties, which endangered her sense of security. The
subject connects those difficulties with her father’s periods of imprisonment. As a matter
of fact, it wasn’t neutral to safety disorders of the subject. Her mother generated multiple
difficulties, barriers including her rejection. Neither of her parent’s families had offered
her help or support. She was considered a „necessary evil”. The subject was trying to fight
those difficulties back, not always picking up the most optimal route – she even tried to
commit suicide. The success of this young woman lies in the fact that she overcomes all these
adversities by professional and educational self-realization.
