Abstract
The article is devoted to use of the personal name at the trilogy by Tolstoy. Material of research is the hero nominations at the text of novel. The author marks collision between tradition and new of ways of nomination heroes at different communicative situations. The author gives much attention to variations of Russian personal names and the status characteristics and emotional relationships of heroes.
