The ability to use a language is one of the most characteristic skills for human beings. Its mastery begins with the earliest months of child's life and is determined by many factors. The higher the linguistic competence, the higher the communication competence, which in tura translates into the quality of the social functioning of the child. The article describes the various stages of language acquisition in a neurobiological context It shows the mechanisms of this acquisition and focuses on its characteristic features. It also presents researcher concepts related to the functioning of the human brain in relation to language ability.
