The text discusses a number of issues related to a contemporary application of a gum bichromate technique,
invented in the mid-19th century, in the painter’s workshop. The author provides examples from the
early 20th century and also points out the revival of this technique among contemporary artists. Many
years of experience have enabled the author to refine the gum process by introducing unique technological and
technical solutions, which give an opportunity of a controlled course of gum print and also of an enlargement
of the copies’ format while preserving the sharpness of graphic details. The application of modern methods of
digital image processing makes the gum bichromate technique a graphic technique which enables us to carry out
complicated artistic undertakings.
