The text contains the author’s reflections upon his own printmaking output created over the two decades, but it
also goes back to the 1970ies and describes the atmosphere at the printmaker’s workshops at the Academy of Fine
Arts in Kraków. Summing up this period, the author concludes that in depictions of figures there dominated
geometrized planes of black while colours were flat and contrasted with more expressively depicted physiognomies.
In the following series of etchings, aquatints and drawings from the 1980ies there appear existential motifs linked
with the folk socio-political context. They present a commentary on the reality of the day. Most of them are
monochromatic compositions, usually black and white, some of them, however, have their colour equivalents made in a
monotype-related technique.
