dc.description.abstract | The sketch treats about selected examples of Józef Wilkoń’s illustrations for children books.
The artist has been collaborating with publishing houses since 1957 and is continuously
improving his artistic techniques. He is inspired by nature, especially animals, which he often
presents in a way that balances on the edge of realism and abstraction. Initially, the style
of his illustrations was considered poetic or fantasy-decorative. The analysis of Wilkoń’s
latest publication titled “The Jungle Book” (2009) confirms this profile and simultaneously
allows us to point to the remarkable advantages of this publication both when it comes to the
illustrative layer and the way in which the illustrations and the text are combined. | en |
