Dystans i dialog. O literackich poszukiwaniach tożsamości w prozie Mariana Pankowskiego

Abstract

This article is an attempt at drawing an identity perspective or interpretation of Marian Pankowski’s literary works. The author of this article decided to combine the common points of modern concepts of identity with the life experience of Marian Pankowski, who spent his adult life away from Poland. This life perspective, which contains Polish and Belgian contexts, determined, in the author’s opinion, Marian Pankowski’s being in the world. Finally, using Zygmunt Bauman’s findings about liquid modernity, the author of this article is trying to present the still valid value of the literature art of Marian Pankowski and the contemporary character of the hybrid identity, which Pankowski observed in the early 1950s.
