Supporting the development of a gifted pupil in conditions of a public school causes a lot
of problems and controversies for primary education teachers. It should be planned and
realized with reference to wider context of factors connected with the essence of understanding
the category of abilities, with methodical and ethic dilemma of their diagnosis,
with legal, economic and organizational capabilities, with traditions of Polish schools and
finally – with the preparation of teachers. These determinants will follow reflections and
analysis presented in the paper. Since only the consciousness of structural and methodical
limitations and chances connected with organizing the environment favourable for
gifted pupils may determine the quality of their education functioning, translating into
possibilities of gaining above-the-average results and being acknowledged in wider community
achievements and successes.
