The monthly magazine “Protestant Communal Newspaper for Galicia and
Bukowina” [German: Evangelisches Gemeindeblatt für Galizien und die Bukowina]
was started in Biała in 1904 by Protestant Superintendent Hermann
Fritsche in collaboration with numerous pastors of Galicia. Since 1907 pastor
Theodor Zöckler of Stanisławów was responsible for the newspaper. The
newspaper had great influence on strengthening the identity of Protestant
society in Galicia whose existence was threatened by emigration of followers.
Selected issues from the period 1904-1939 are valuable source of information
for researchers into the functioning of Protestant communes in Galicia and
Bukowina. Each issue provides not only detailed and precise information on
the Protestant diaspora in southern Poland, but also valuable theological contribution.
