The paper presents the structure da się (can be), specific for the colloquial Polish language. The author analyzes examples and meaning of this structure based on selected preschool 5–6-year-old) children utterances which were used in the radio program Dzieci wiedzą lepiej (Children Know Better). Also this paper indicates wrong usage of the modal operator da się (can be) by children, understood by them as to be a success. The author describes the phrase da się (can be) as impersonal, emphasizing its convergence with the predicate it is possible, differentiated, however, by stronger emphasis on the notion of no obstacles in the performance of a possible activity.en
